Do I need to bring a partner?
No! You can turn up on your own, with a partner, or with a bunch of friends - it's entirely up to you. (This is the case for both classes and events.) We rotate partners during classes, both for social reasons (so that everybody dances with everybody else), and to improve your following / leading skills (so you don't get used to one person's particular habits)!
What should I wear?
Wear clothes that are comfortable and lose enough to allow you to move, but not so lose as to put you in danger of suffering a "wardrobe malfunction"!
Shoes: a smooth sole is adviseable in order to reduce friction when turning, but for the first couple of classes this is not essential. What is important is that your shoes fit well, will allow you to turn, are comfortable to walk & stand around in, and won't come off unexpectedly in the middle of a dance (flip-flops are not recommended). Ladies will often wear some kind of heel, but keep it real - if you can't walk in 3" heels, what makes you think you'll be able to dance in them?!
